Book Review - All Pro Dad by Mark Merrill

Over the past few years, I have followed the progress of All
Pro Dad Ministries and have been blessed to see powerful, yet
practical resources the ministry offers. As such, I was delighted to receive
a copy of Mark's new book, "All
Pro Dad" from the publisher.
This is a wonderful book for dads. Unlike many books for fathers, All Pro
Dad doesn't have a condemning tone. Mark is transparent and honest about
his own fathering but he also encourages fathers to set the bar high. I
love the way Mark reaches the reader right where he is but also imparts
practical, realistic action steps that a dad can make. This is a book the
gives theoretical insight but also practical, down-to-earth things you can
do with your kids.
I am particularly excited about Chapter 7, "Know Your Message".
I think this is incredibly valuable to any father and Mark shows you how
to "turn your pain into your passion". Our God is a God of
redemption and restoration and He wants to use our brokenness for Kingdom
purposes. This powerful chapter is worth the price of the book as it helps
you redeems the pain in your life. In addressing our pain, Mark makes a
profound statement, "It can turn our trajectory even more inward on
ourselves, or it can impact our trajectory and turn it outward toward
others." Redeeming our pain by using it as a platform that serves
others is a powerful way to join God in His redeeming work in the world.
